I can proudly say that we survived our first road trip!!! YAY!!! It wasn't smooth all of the time, but we did it and the next one will be easier. I made a checklist and packed pretty much everything up on Friday night so all we had to do was throw everything in the car on Saturday morning. Kyler slept most of the way. He woke up for about a 1/2 hour out of the 2 1/2 hour trip to eat and then fell back asleep. He did that both driving up to Green Bay and coming home. Everyone he met loved him! He did really good with all of the new people. He was a little cranky at times, but he took a nap on me and was much better when he woke up.
The only hard part of our road trip was getting him to sleep at night. He was in a different pack-n-play that my parents had and he didn't want anything to do with it. I think we'll bring along one of his crib sheets to put on the PNP next time so it smells like him. Hopefully that will help him adjust. He eventually fell asleep on me for about 3 hours. Of course that meant that I didn't really sleep. He woke up and Keith took him for an hour or two. Then he woke up again and my mom took him so Keith and I could get a few hours of sleep. Sleeping was the only stressful part of the weekend.
I can also say that I survived turning 30. It's easy to have a big birthday like 30 when I have a wonderful husband and beautiful little son. It wasn't really a big deal at all. I thought I would dread the big three-O, but it was fine. I had a pretty cruddy week last week and it was just nice to be with my boys (and Reese) yesterday when we got home from Green Bay. They got me a beautiful sapphire and diamond necklace. My boys spoil me.
We go to Children's next Tuesday for a clinic appointment. Remember, that's one of the long appointments where we go meet with 5-6 specialists/Hematologists and get all of our questions answered. We are composing our list to ask them and I can't wait for them to see how advanced and impressive Kyler is. Mr. Rolling front to back and back to front, grabbing his toes, almost sitting up by himself, balancing in a sit by himself, standing with help and taking steps, babbling up a storm, aware of everything around him and grabbing at everything around him all at 4 1/2 months, HAS to impress them!!! We're also being genetically tested, so we'll find out in the near future if I'm a carrier or if Kyler's Hemophilia was a spontaneous genetic mutation. I'll update after the appointment on Tuesday and as soon as we know about the genetic test results.
Take care!!
