Hi! I haven't updated in forever. Sorry about that.
Kyler is doing great! We had a fantastic Christmas and New Year. Everything with his Hemophilia is going well. Nothing new to report. He hit his head pretty hard, so we infused and kept him home from daycare a day. He was fine.
The baby is doing well. We found out we're having another boy!! We're all very excited to meet this little guy in a few months. Yes, we do have a name we're 90% sure on. I'm not going to tell you all here, but if you talk to me or Keith in person, we'll probably tell you. ;) Kyler is super excited to be a big brother. He talks about the baby and kisses my tummy. It's really sweet. I'm not sure that he understands that someday the baby will be living with us, but we're trying to prepare him as best as we can.
Now, you're probably wondering if this little guy will have Hemophilia or not. We're not sure and we're not doing any testing to find out until he's born. Since we don't know if I'm a carrier, we can't even say it's 50/50. If I am a carrier, it's a 50/50 chance he'll have it. They'll test his cord blood when he's born and we'll know. We definitely won't have the circumcision scare we had when Kyler was born. If I'm not a carrier, it's still a slightly elevated chance he could have it since we already have one that has it. I don't know the exact percentage though.
Either way, there's positives and negatives. A couple of positives of him having it are that Kyler will be able to help him when Keith and I can't. Also, we won't have to worry about one wanting to play football or other contact sports, but the other one can't. A negative is that we'd be back in the "unknown" stage. That first year of wondering when the first bleed would be, when the first joint issue would be, multiple pokes on tiny baby veins at a hospital, etc...was very nerve-wracking. However, all of the amazing times with our baby will totally trump the nerves of the unknown.
Whatever the outcome is, he's going to be amazing!!! Keith and I are strong. We know Hemophilia and we keep learning. We promised Kyler a happy, healthy, and the most normal life possible when he was born and we will make the exact same promises to this little guy.
Keith got to feel this little guy kicking for the first time a couple of weeks ago. It was so cute and Keith was really excited! He's really strong. I'm in trouble as he gets bigger and stronger.
I'm trying to figure out what to do about our blog. Right now the plan is to keep it as kylerbean, but when this one is born I'll probably change the name to something that relates to both of them. I'll keep our family and friends posted with any changes when I make them.
Is it June yet?!
